Fundación Dibujando un Mañana and SC Johnson Invite Civil Society Organizations to join the “You Can Help 2024” initiative for Gender Equality

Fundación Dibujando un Mañana and SC Johnson Invite Civil Society Organizations to join the “You Can Help 2024” initiative for Gender Equality

Since its inception, the “You Can Help” alliance has positively impacted more than 69,000 girls and adolescents across the country, collaborating with over 700 organizations and supporting nearly 800 projects.

Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) have the opportunity to submit their projects until April 12 of this year.

Mexico City, March 2024 — Fundación Dibujando un Mañana, A.C. and household product manufacturer SC Johnson are pleased to announce the launch of the eighteenth edition of the “You Can Help” call for proposals. This initiative, aimed at Civil Society Organizations committed to projects that promote gender equality and the empowerment of girls, adolescents, and young women in Mexico, seeks to strengthen the social fabric and contribute to the country’s sustainable development.

The full guidelines, eligibility criteria, and application process can be found on the official OSC portal. The call will remain open until April 12, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. (CDMX time) or until the first 40 projects are received.

Projects will be evaluated by a committee of specialists who will identify those with the greatest potential to benefit the community. Selected organizations will receive financial support and guidance to promote equality, equitable access to resources, and the elimination of gender-based discrimination. This call not only aims to provide economic backing for each project’s success but also to strengthen the capacities of CSOs and positively impact the communities they serve.

For 17 years, SC Johnson has supported Fundación Dibujando un Mañana in its efforts to address gender inequalities that persist in Mexico, promoting concrete actions in key areas such as education, health, prevention, and protection. This has been achieved through social investment in projects, capacity building, and structural strengthening of CSOs such as shelters and day centers.

Thanks to SC Johnson’s commitment, more than 700 Civil Society Organizations have been supported, 777 projects funded, and the lives of 69,367 girls, adolescents, and young women touched. These numbers represent stories of resilience, fulfilled dreams, and opportunities provided.

According to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), in 2021, 70.1% of women aged 15 and older nationwide had experienced at least one incident of violence in their lifetime. These figures highlight the importance of contributing to building a more equal and opportunity-filled future, and serve as a reminder that much work remains to be done.

This year, in recognition of International Women’s Day, Fundación Dibujando un Mañana joins the celebration by dedicating the month of March to renewing its support for gender equality and female empowerment. Only with everyone’s support can we move forward in building a more equitable present and future for all women in our country.
