Soriana Fundación and Fundación Dibujando un Mañana raise over four million Pesos

Soriana Fundación and Fundación Dibujando un Mañana have raised over four million pesos in support of music education for Mexican children.

León, Guanajuato, May 6, 2022 — Soriana Fundación, in partnership with Fundación Dibujando un Mañana, successfully concluded the “Music for Change” campaign, which over six years raised $4,025,512.50 pesos. This amount benefited 4,324 children, adolescents, and youth between the ages of 4 and 21, supporting their development and growth through music education.

“Music for Change” was an alliance built on the transformative power of music, aimed at fostering the development of children in vulnerable situations by supporting 10 music education projects across civil society organizations in 9 Mexican states: Baja California Norte, Chihuahua, Chiapas, State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Jalisco, Michoacán, Oaxaca, and Yucatán.

Claudia Aguado Hernández, Deputy Director of Soriana Fundación, shared: “I want to thank all the customers who joined us in supporting this project, promoting music education for children and youth in various states through more than 276 stores across the country. This initiative gave them the opportunity for holistic development and nurtured their appreciation for the arts. We are convinced that building strategic alliances like the one we’ve had with Fundación Dibujando un Mañana for years is the path to transforming the lives of children, who are not only Mexico’s future, but also its present.”

She reiterated, “Now more than ever, teamwork is essential. We will continue to take heartfelt action and invite everyone to join us, because none of this would be possible without the trust and voluntary contributions of thousands of customers from the 276 Soriana stores,” emphasized Claudia Aguado.

Katty Beltrán, Executive Director of Fundación Dibujando un Mañana, added: “At Fundación Dibujando un Mañana, we are thrilled to carry out projects like this alongside such an important ally as Soriana Fundación. Through the customers of Soriana stores, they contribute to the development and education of children and adolescents in vulnerable situations by providing them with high-quality music education. Thank you, Soriana Fundación, for believing in us over these six years of partnership, and most importantly, for believing in the transformative power of music.”

During this period, the beneficiary organizations—Imagina Biblioteca, A.C., Niños y Adolescentes en Armonía, Club de Niños y Niñas de Tijuana, A.C., Germinalia, A.C., Promesa Educativa para México, A.C., Pro Mazahua, A.C., Jóvenes Mexicanos en Movimiento, A.C., Desarrollo Integral de la Juventud Oaxaqueña, A.C., and DAEA Centro de Investigación e Intervención Psicosocial, A.C.—were able to promote positive psychosocial skill development, foster artistic and cultural growth, offer music training, workshops, and classes in creative spaces, and provide free materials and resources.

The closing event was held at the Cerro Gordo store and featured the presence of Rafael Melgar Azanza, Director of the Imagina Symphony Orchestra; Ana Laura Alba Hernández, Director of the Imagina Cultural and Ecological Center; Claudia Aguado, Deputy Director of Soriana Fundación; Claudia Galán, President of Fundación Dibujando un Mañana; and Katty Beltrán, Executive Director of Fundación Dibujando un Mañana.

Attendees and customers enjoyed a moving musical performance by the children and adolescents who are part of the Imagina Symphony Orchestra, one of the organizations supported by “Music for Change.”

Through these actions, Organización Soriana reaffirms its commitment to building a better society through its three pillars: childhood, nutrition, and community support.
